Carrier Ethernet is the foundation upon which the MEF is encouraging the industry to develop new services. SDN, NFV and LSO will provide the means for operators to interconnect and provide true end-to-end services for their customers. For example, service chains where telcos can combine connectivity with value-added functions such as security or storage, which opens up a broader financial market for service providers. Some specification work still needs to be done, together with implementation work, which will be undertaken simultaneously over the coming year.
