The Connected Home market promises much, but so far has failed to catch the imagination of homeowners, not least because of its complex and fragmented nature. Deutsche Telekom advocates an open architecture for platforms that can support an ever-increasing number of multiple wireless technologies. Otherwise, telcos face the risk of disintermediation and will miss out on a market which could be worth upwards of €15bn by 2019.
