There's a lot of data being created in and around the car, says Hubertus, and one of the most effective ways it can be used is to gain insights to reduce warranty costs for automotive manufacturers. Big data capture and analysis means manufacturers can refine design to avoid or delay faults, preventing the dreaded recall; and data monitoring can predict part failure before it occurs.
