ZTE acquires industry’s first Wi-Fi EasyMesh certification

Via ZTE Press Center

Jun 20, 2019

20 June 2019, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that its home networking product, the ZXHN F680, has become the first PON ONT in the industry to be EasyMesh certified by Wi-Fi Alliance.

The certification demonstrates the superior openness, interoperability, scalability and industry-leading technological capability of ZTE's NetSphere multi-AP smart home networking solution, which is an integral part of the ZXHN F680.

The Wi-Fi EasyMesh certification for the ZXHN F680 allows the NetSphere solution to interoperate with AP products of other vendors, aimed to facilitate the rollout of multi-AP home network services for operators. In the EasyMesh certification, the ZXHN F680 has passed the key functional tests, including link establishment, device discovery, topology display, automatic configuration, capability matrix, and wireless roaming, fully demonstrating ZTE's strength in multi-AP home networking solutions and technologies.

Moreover, ZTE has already carried out research and verification of the new requirements that may be incorporated into R2, such as QoS, network security and fault diagnosis, although Wi-Fi Alliance has not yet officially issued the new version (Release 2 or R2) of its multi-AP specification.

EasyMesh is a standardization and certification program conducted by Wi-Fi Alliance for multi-AP Wi-Fi networking. It aims to promote the rapid development of the home networking market by enabling multi-vendor interoperability in mesh networks, facilitating the installation and utilization of Wi-Fi networks, and reducing market segmentation.

Therefore, as the basis of operators’ multi-AP networking solutions, the EasyMesh certification specification helps to boost industry standardization, achieve interoperability of products from different vendors, and accelerate the development of home network services.

ZTE is leading in the CPE field by virtue of its strong R&D capabilities and widespread adoption of its products across global markets. In 2018, ZTE ranked second worldwide in terms of the market share of CPE devices, including DSL CPE and FTTH CPE, according to a data report of the research firm IHS.
