Open Telekom Cloud has been certified for all IT applications in the networked automotive industry.

The Open Telekom Cloud is now certified for all IT applications in the German automotive industry. Deutsche Telekom's public cloud offering meets the security requirements of the cross-company testing and exchange mechanism of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). To put it simply, the catalogue - in short: TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) - defines how the increasingly closely networked car manufacturers and their suppliers exchange information in their IT systems in a secure and standardized manner.

With the certification, all car manufacturers and suppliers can now use the Open Telekom Cloud from the Telekom data center in Biere (in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt) as a secure environment for data processing without having to undergo a time-consuming additional security audit. Information security is especially in the automotive industry a central success factor, among other things for the exchange of design data in development, the automated data exchange of networked production systems and for availability and reliability of production. This also applies to the vehicles themselves, which have long since become computers on four wheels.

For this reason, service providers and suppliers in the automotive industry have to prove to their customers at regular intervals whether they comply with the standardized, but in some cases also specific requirements with regard to information security. Due to the fact that many manufacturers and suppliers have so far carried out these tests themselves, there have been repeated double or multiple checks within the value chain. For this reason, the industry has established a testing and exchange mechanism with TISAX with the aim of gaining industry-wide recognition. The VDA's Information Security Assessment contains essential features of the management system for information security (ISMS) according to ISO 27001, which T-Systems has been certified by for many years.
