Jacob’s appointment follows Sprint’s announcement that it will restructure the company into four geographic areas – West, Central, Northeast and South – with targeted resources devoted to 19 top markets, including Seattle/Tacoma. Under Jacobs’ leadership, the company will develop market-specific offerings serving the unique local needs of consumer and business customers in the Northwest.

“Our new regional structure puts us closer to our customers, enabling us to serve them even better in 19 of our most important markets,” said Marcelo Claure, Sprint CEO. “Annette’s incredible track record and strong ties to the Pacific Northwest will deliver an excellent experience for our customers and help us win in local markets.”

The West geographic area covers Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, West Texas and Wyoming. It encompasses nearly 700 retail stores and employs approximately 7,300 people spanning sales, customer care, operations, network, finance, legal, IT and marketing.

“The Pacific Northwest is a booming technology hub and connectivity is key to economic and civic growth,” said Annette Jacobs, president, Pacific Northwest Region at Sprint. “I’m excited to lead Sprint in a more active role in these markets, responding to the regional trends, preferences, and the unique demands of our local customers.”

Jacobs joins Sprint from Newport Board Group where she was managing director Northwest. Previously, she was the president of the West Area at Cricket, a wireless service provider acquired by AT&T. She has also held senior leadership roles at Qwest, Verizon Wireless, and GTE Wireless. Jacobs also served six years as a director for Alaska Communications Systems. She is the co-founder and past co-chair for Women Corporate Directors (WCD) - Seattle, as well as a former board director and past president for the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Northwest. Jacobs has been recognized as a Women of Influence by the Puget Sound Business Journal and received a national Stevie Award for Women in Business.
