Huawei’s BusinessPON solution helps China Mobile build a full-fiber gigabit enterprise private network

Via Huawei Corporate News

Dec 18, 2019

Huawei recently announced that its BusinessPON solution helped China Mobile successfully build a next-generation gigabit enterprise private network for commercial buildings. This network will effectively support the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on smart campuses and in commercial buildings, and unleash the potential of a digital economy.

Digital transformation is required in various industries. Campuses and buildings have already entered a new era of development that is driven by AI, IoT, cloud computing, and big data. Operators face new challenges and requirements in building infrastructure networks to provide enterprise private lines. High-tech enterprises such as mobile payment and financial service software companies are in urgent need of one-stop private lines that support cloud commissioning and delivery, wireless office work, and fixed phone services. In the online education sector, teachers and students need to access training systems on cloud servers, requiring high bandwidth and connections that are available anywhere, anytime. In the data security sector, enterprises require secure VPN services and concurrent access by multiple employees. Enterprise-deployed networks also bring greater challenges to network maintenance.

In order to facilitate the development of campuses and buildings with greater digitization, convergence, sharing, flexibility, and ecofriendliness, China Mobile and Huawei are jointly exploring innovation opportunities within the enterprise market. In Chengdu, China Mobile already leads the way in upgrading private networks to provide premium gigabit private line services for campuses and buildings. The Huawei solution has the following advantages:

  • High bandwidth and continuous evolution: Supports a symmetric network rate up to 10 Gbps, provides gigabit private line access, and delivers a ten-fold increase in upload and download efficiency of ultra-large files. Moreover, multiple users can access the network simultaneously without performance issues, ensuring a smooth office work experience.
  • Secure and flexible access to the cloud: Secure IPsec VPN access and hardware encryption and decryption engines ensure industry-leading tunnel performance and protect enterprise data security. Huawei chips and optimization algorithms are used to support 3 Gbps VxLAN and one-hop access to the cloud, with leading forwarding performance and high-speed cloud storage and access.
  • All-in-one: One gateway replaces multiple devices to avoid device stacking, while also simplifies enterprise networking and reduces IT O&M costs by 30%.
  • Full-fiber and energy saving: The PON network adopts a simplified full-fiber architecture, which reduces the equipment room footprint by 80%, cabling costs by 50%, and power consumption by 60%. This facilitates the sustainable development of campuses and buildings.

SMEs are the most vibrant in scientific and technological innovation, playing a crucial role in providing jobs and promoting economic growth. China Mobile aims to build a gigabit private network for enterprises to boost digitization and innovation in various industries.

Huawei is committed to customer-centric innovation in the broadband access field. The BusinessPON solution will provide enterprise users with a superior gigabit service experience and enable digital transformation for SMEs.
