Martyn Warwick polled his interviewees at the recent meeting of ETSI's NFV Industry Specification Group, on what Network Functions Virtualization actually offers service providers. The answer? Just about everything. Increases in agility, supplier choice, profitability, flexibility and profound change. Decreases in costs, capital expenditure, cost-per-bit and time-to-market. Is this the first case of a new networking approach actually being under-hyped?
