For Telefónica, SDN is now more a reality than a promise, says Francisco-Javier Ramon Salguero, Head of Network Virtualisation Initiative at Telefónica Research and Development (TID). The giant telco, says Javier, has been working with the technologies for over four years and "trying to push on the ecosystem to promote a more aggressive roll-out." Now he says it's the settled Telefónica view that even the data plane functions will be part of the recipe.
