Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) appears to be first new networking approach that is actually in danger of being under-hyped. In this video, Communication Service Providers (CSPs), and executives from across the industry discuss the looming economic challenge faced by CSPs, and how NFV can help.

According to Julia Ochinero, WW Communications Industry Marketing and NFV Marketing Solution Lead at HP, “The main challenge faced by CSPs is to continue meeting customer needs while fending off the emergence of new competitors; especially over-the-top (OTT) providers, who can innovate faster and experiment with new offers with less risk than the CSPs still tied down by traditional infrastructure.

NFV gives CSPs increased agility. It enables them to introduce new, compelling services quickly and cost-effectively; radically reducing both the costs and risks associated with introducing new services, by eliminating the need for specialized hardware and building on the standard building blocks used in enterprise IT.”
