TIM, Ministry of Education, University and Research partner to support digital transformation in schools

The Minister of Education, University and Research Lorenzo Fioramonti and TIM’s CEO Luigi Gubitosi today at the Ministry’s headquarters signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the digital transformation of Italian schools at all levels, aimed at raising the quality of the didactic offer by introducing digital innovation and new technologies in the learning processes.

The initiative is open to other companies operating in research and development of new technologies specifically for digital education.

As per the agreement, TIM will bring Internet access to schools and learning environments, identifying pilot cases throughout Italy, also in disadvantaged areas where school drop-out is high. Specific trainings will be set up for both teaching staff and students to encourage the development of digital skills and to promote the diffusion of scientific culture in schools, inspiring young people in choosing training and professional paths in STEM disciplines.

TIM will provide teachers and students with the suitable tools to facilitate the discovery of advanced digital approaches, through innovative technologies such as cloud and augmented reality; training courses on digital skills, consistent with new technological trends and labour market demands, will implement the project.

Students will be offered free training services and programmes, to provide them with the skills necessary for the digital transformation of businesses and the consequent challenges that the workplace will need to address.
