AT&T* Corp. will help mobilize the U.S. Census Bureau.

Under a 5-year agreement, the Census Bureau will use AT&T’s highly-secure and reliable 4G LTE network and Internet of Things (IoT) services to support critical survey work performed nationwide by up to 20,000 census takers. AT&T’s services will allow census takers to use mobile applications to capture and deliver sensitive survey data on-the-go in near real-time.

Countless agencies, businesses and consumers around the world use Census Bureau data.

The Census Bureau will be able to change its data needs based on capacity rather than users, with a simple pricing model from AT&T. This approach is more flexible, and saves costs when using data services. The Census Bureau will use the AT&T Control Center, an intelligent and flexible IoT management platform. The agency will be able to monitor, understand and control its wireless network usage. That includes managing, setting up and activating SIM cards.

“We’re excited to provide advanced mobility and IoT services to the Census Bureau to help it transform and improve its data collection programs,” said Mike Leff, vice president-Civilian, AT&T Government Solutions.
