Via ZTE Press Center

Jun 27, 2016

27 June 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that before the Shanghai Mobile World Conference (Shanghai MWC) 2016, it officially released its Big Video, Better Future - ZTE big video white paper V1.0. The white paper is based on ZTE’s latest research results and global network deployment practices on big video. The big video white paper describes ZTE’s future-oriented big video end-to-end (E2E) solutions in detail, featuring four key connotations and covering the terminal, network and service platform; intelligence operation and maintenance system and business consulting services at all levels.

Thanks to ever-changing media and telecom network technologies, plus subscribers’ constant pursuit of a better video experience, ZTE believes that 2016 will see the start of the big video era. With ultimate clear, bright and smooth ultra-high definition (UHD) video, represented by 4K, 8K, and virtual reality/augmented reality (VR/AR) and more, video has become more and more popular and a new era - the era of big video - has arrived.

The arrival of the big video era is not only a golden transformation opportunity, but also a huge challenge to operators worldwide. ZTE believes that focusing only on big video service itself is not enough and that operators should pay more attention to interpreting big video in order to gain insight into its multi-dimensional implications.

The four key connotations presented in the white paper include: colourful video service, best video experience, the boutique video network and the win-win video ecosystem. Out of these, colourful video service best embodies the values of big video. ZTE’s big video solutions provide diversified video services to end-users with higher-definition and a superior user experiences. The core value of big video is to provide the best video experience. In terms of user experience, ZTE has developed an innovative video quality evaluation system (V-QoE) to build an E2E intelligent maintenance system which is capable of monitoring a user's entire video experience, accurately and in real-time. This enables rapid identification [of any malfunction and assures of high-quality video services on demand. Also of value to big video is the boutique video network. ZTE provides a boutique network featuring ultra-wideband, low delay and high quality of service (QoS) to help operators deal with the challenge of huge levels of traffic. The value of big video is further extended through the video ecosystem. With its depth of experience and leading reputation in the industry, ZTE, in cooperation with partners, can provide operators with one-stop video solutions and services, for a win-win video ecology. By focusing on the four areas above, operators can develop an improved video business and open up a brighter future.

You Yan, VP of ZTE Corporation, said:

“ZTE deeply understands the challenges to operators in the big video era. Big video is included in ZTE’s overall strategy, and will continue to be an area of investment. Aiming at the best user experience, ZTE is committed to become the leading provider of colourful video services, the impetus behind network rebuilding, the leader in standards and technology innovations and the advocate of the big video ecosystem. ZTE is devoted to helping operators cope with the challenges step-by-step and developing a better future.”

ZTE has great experience and strong leadership in the area of big video. ZTE maintains the largest market share in the global big video market. By now, ZTE has more than 80 commercial offices with the total system capacity up to 50 million and more than 80 international CDN projects with the total concurrency capability up to 30T. The Jiangsu Telecom office with over 6 million users is the largest single office in the world. Indonesia Telekom developed over one million new users within one year.

ZTE always builds value in the ecosystem and maintains close cooperation with operators, content providers, terminal providers and more. ZTE’s cooperation and planning is wide ranging in all aspects of the overall solution, from chips to products and from devices to content. In 2016, various strategic cooperation agreements on big video have been signed between ZTE and operators such as Shanghai Telecom, Beijing Telecom, Chongqing Unicom and more with ZTE and Jiangsu Telecom jointly establishing a big video laboratory. ZTE also has comprehensive cooperation with customers abroad.
