Sprint Powers the Los Angeles Police Department's Connected Officer Program

Mobile apps will help 7,000 officers with reporting, resources for the city and real-time data to aid investigations and improve safety

At a press event today in Los Angeles, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck introduced Sprint as the wireless carrier that built and is deploying the Connected Officer program with the LAPD.

The Connected Officersm program will assist the LAPD in facilitating its “to protect and to serve” mission for each officer.

When fully deployed, 7,000 officers can use mobile apps for access to mobile field reporting, resources for the community and real-time data to improve criminal investigations and enhance officer safety.

While any carrier can provide phones and service when requested, a proactive, consultative approach was required to build a solution that met the needs of the LAPD and the community it serves. That’s where Sprint stepped up.

Sprint combined key business solutions in building the Connected Officer platform, including Mobile Device Managementsm and Connected Vehiclessm and coupled them with mobile access to run field applications. The result will ultimately be a responsive service that improves officer safety and well-being, enhances responses to situations and provides informed incident management.

Sprint also developed Sprint Command Centralsm , which will provide commanding officers with dashboard and analytics views.
