IT Services Delivery is changing in reaction to various sources of disruption

27 Jul 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Prague — International Data Corporation (IDC) has released quantitative and analytical reports monitoring the IT services and cloud markets in several countries in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), which offer insights into these fast-paced markets of technology delivery and provide answers to such questions as:

  • How significant is the current market opportunity and which market segments are expected to show the greatest uptake?
  • What is the market share and positioning of the largest service providers?
  • What is the adoption rate of cloud delivery and to what degree does it cannibalize traditional services delivery?

IDC’s reports offer detailed coverage of traditional IT services markets in the following countries in CEE: Austria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and Slovakia. These studies examine in great detail the type of services demanded by various economic sectors and segments and contain market sizing for the top 100 providers per country.

“Both the private and public sectors have been exposed to abrupt disruptions caused by external influences including macroeconomic and political factors, but also by technological advancements deployed by digitally native companies such as Uber, Landing Club, and Zonky, which are competing with traditional bricks-and-mortar firms in all sectors,” says Vladimir Kroa, Associate Vice President of IT Services at IDC CEMA. These new entrants take advantage of modern technologies, particularly the connection of mobility, analytics, cloud, and social media. “Enterprise IT consequently has to react to these challenges,” notes Kroa. “Companies and public institutions in CEE can no longer do it themselves, and thus they are seeking third-party assistance in projects involving advisory services, customization, and systems integration, particularly in the area of data analysis (big data/analytics) and in the transformation to hybrid cloud infrastructure.”

IDC examines these changes in its research and offers dedicated cloud services country reports providing detailed market sizing, analysis, and forecasts (2016–2020) for the Austrian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, and Russian cloud services markets, encompassing various cloud services delivery models such as public, hosted private, and enterprise private cloud. The reports highlight market drivers and inhibitors for each country, identify market leaders, and provide qualitative and quantitative forecasts through the year 2020. Furthermore, IDC offers an end-user perspective in its Cloud View 2016 report that focuses on the responses of organizations in the CEE region regarding their priorities and intentions with respect to public cloud services delivery, and in some cases comparing these responses with the Western Europe or global dataset.

All IT services and cloud reports include not only specific quantitative information — such as the fact that total spending in the CEE IT services market (excluding Russia) will post a growth rate of 6.1% to exceed $9 billion in 2016 — but also provide analytical insights regarding the transformation of technology services delivery, noting that, for example, business confidence in the region has returned, with the implication that a great many end-user organizations are expecting to increase IT services spending this year compared with last year.
