IHS Scorecard Identifies Leaders in Convergent Charging Market

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (January 28, 2016) - IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS) today released excerpts from its IHS Infonetics Convergent Charging Vendor Scorecard , which profiles and analyzes the top 8 convergent charging software vendors: Alcatel-Lucent , Amdocs, AsiaInfo , Comverse, Ericsson , Huawei , NetCracker and Redknee .

“Operators are looking to transform themselves from connectivity suppliers to providers of a full range of digital services, and this necessitates changes in their billing and charging environments. The vendors profiled in our scorecard have the size and entrenched presence required to be significant players in the convergent charging market at this point in time, either in their existing form or as part of a combined entity, as is the case with Alcatel-Lucent and Comverse,” said Shira Levine, research director for service enablement and subscriber intelligence at IHS.

“As the market continues to mature and operators’ requirements shift, how these suppliers evolve their own strategies will determine whether they’re left standing at the end of the day,” Levine said.

CONVERGENT CHARGING SCORECARD HIGHLIGHTS

  • Huawei’s strong legacy customer base and presence in the network infrastructure realm has solidified its position as a leader in the convergent charging market
  • Amdocs leveraged its role in the postpaid billing market to become a leader in convergent charging, and its acquisition of Comverse is likely to cement that position
  • Ericsson’s entrenched position in the communications market has translated into a significant share of the convergent charging opportunity
  • With a solid legacy base that it gained from parent company NEC and its acquisition of the Convergys billing assets, NetCracker has added to its customer list
  • Redknee has leveraged the customer base it gained when it acquired the former NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks) billing assets, generating revenue from upgrades and expansions while building a list of new wins
  • AsiaInfo has made strides in expanding beyond its core market in Asia
  • The impact of the proposed acquisition by Nokia remains uncertain for the Alcatel-Lucent convergent charging business, but early indications point to a commitment to the solution in the combined entity

SCORECARD SYNOPSIS

The IHS convergent charging scorecard evaluates the leading convergent charging software vendors on criteria using concrete data and metrics, such as market share, market share momentum, financials, convergent charging intensity, and buyer feedback on product reliability, service/support, and technology innovation. The report includes a Leadership Landscape Graph that classifies vendors as “Leader,” “Established” or “Challenger” based on their scores in these criteria. This approach eliminates subjectivity and ensures vendors are assessed accurately and fairly.
