Huawei Helps Fiji Become an ICT Hub for the South Pacific Island Nations

Via Huawei

Jul 24, 2015

[Beijing, July 23, 2015] Huawei Senior Vice President Qu Wenchu recently met with Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama of Fiji at the company's Beijing Research Center. After discussing Fiji's ICT development direction in depth, they jointly formulated a strategic plan to build Fiji into an ICT hub for the South Pacific island nations. They also exchanged views on topics such as constructing Fiji national data center and talent training center.

Prime Minister Bainimarama thanked Huawei for its significant contribution to ICT development in Fiji. In its national ICT plan, Fiji hopes that Huawei can offer constructive suggestions and help the country become an ICT hub for the region.

Qu Wenchu stated that the sound business environment created by the Fijian government has enabled Huawei to achieve steady growth in the country. Huawei will bring the world's latest communications technologies and products such as 5G and 100G submarine cables into Fiji. By doing so, Huawei aims to help Fiji accelerate its ICT process while better assisting the Fijian Government with its national ICT planning.

Since its entry into the Fijian market in 2002, Huawei has established strategic partnerships with Telecom Fiji and Digicel Fiji, and has consistently fulfilled its corporate social responsibilities.
