  • The company to add 1,000 IT & software professionals to current workforce

Bengaluru, November 30, 2016: As a key step forward in GE’s digital transformation, the company today announced the opening of its largest Digital Hub located in Bengaluru. Currently employing 1,500 highly skilled IT and software professionals, GE Digital’s Hub in India will create an additional 1,000 technology positions. This new location will deliver world-class solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) for GE’s customers, making it easier for industrial companies to execute a strategic digital transformation to drive internal productivity.

The Digital Hub is a center for co-creating industrial software and analytics solutions with customers and GE experts, aimed at solving complex business problems. At the center of this collaboration is Predix, GE’s distributed operating system built for the industrial world. Demonstrating the strength of the platform, Predix helps customers harness the power of the Industrial Internet and contribute significantly to GE’s goal of achieving USD 1 billion in productivity by 2020.

“GE’s global Digital Hubs are at the core of our transformation into a premiere digital industrial company. We’re excited to bring the best and brightest into GE’s new location in India to help us in our journey,” said Jim Fowler, VP & Chief Information Officer (CIO) for GE . “Talent is our utmost priority in advancing outcomes and we are keen to harness additional talent from India, specialized in data sciences, analytics and product development space.”

The new location, inaugurated today, is spread over 200,000 sq. ft. at the heart of the busiest Tech Park at Whitefield, Bengaluru. With state of the art facilities, the hub is designed to encourage collaboration and development across teams as well as high-tech features throughout the space from conference rooms to the on-site cafeteria.

“Bengaluru is one of the six key locations around the world which is focused on IT and software development in line with our business strategy,” said Anthony Thomas, Group CIO for GE . “GE is looking to hire talent that can fit our lean and agile culture, wants to work in a unique global set up which has a start-up like feel, within a large enterprise with access to R&D, engineering and manufacturing. For people who are willing to make an impact in technology intensive industries, this 124-year old start up is the place to be.”

GE Digital’s India Hub is part of the company’s network of global locations in San Ramon, California; Detroit, Michigan; New Orleans, Louisiana; Glen Allen, Virginia; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Budapest, Hungary. By pairing digital technology with its domain expertise across industries like aviation, energy, healthcare and transportation, GE is transforming the industry with software-defined machines and solutions that are connected, responsive and predictive. GE’s Predix-based software and solutions are set to deliver more than $6 billion in incremental revenue this year, and GE expects to become a $15 billion software business by 2020.
