Rogers Unison™ enables small businesses to experience the features of a traditional desk phone on a mobile phone.

GAITHERSBURG, MD – July 26, 2016 – BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSFT), a global unified communication software as a service (UCaaS) leader, announced today that Rogers Communications has selected BroadSoft to power Rogers Unison , a mobile-first cloud PBX offering that enables small businesses to extend the full range of desk phone business telephony features to a user’s preferred mobile devices – ensuring that workers remain productive from any location and at any time. A Rogers Unison solution for larger businesses and the public sector is expected to be available later this year.

According to the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, a department of the Government of Canada, small businesses accounted for 71 percent of Canadian private sector employment last year – and these businesses seek communications and collaboration services that improve productivity, reduce costs and enhance customer service. Rogers Unison customers can now use their mobile devices to connect their entire business and team, and gain access to a mobile-optimized user experience and advanced mobility features. In addition, Rogers Unison customers can:

  • Create a localized business presence. Customers gain access to features ranging from Voice Messaging and Auto Attendant to personal calling functions such as Selective Call Forwarding, Hunt Groups, Simultaneous Ringing, and Dial-By-Name.
  • Create local identities with ‘Dual Persona’. Customers can keep their existing local phone number and also use it on their mobile device. They can also appear to have a local presence in multiple regions by adding and routing ‘local’ numbers from multiple regions to their mobile device.
  • Implement the offering with seamless setup and administration. Customers can keep their landline number, and the solution can be set up within minutes, no application or software installation is required.
  • Realize significant cost savings. According to Rogers, small businesses today spend an average of $25-50 a month for each landline, and by adding Rogers Unison to their **Share Everything ** for business plan, Rogers customers can save at least 40% of those costs by cutting the cord to their traditional desk phone.

“Historically, business telephony systems have been built around a fixed-line desk phone and a number, and lack the deep mobile integration today’s mobile workforce demands,” said Alan Lieff, vice president, sales, Canada, BroadSoft. “A recent BroadSoft survey found that by 2020, one-third of small businesses will opt for mobile-only UCaaS/hosted PBX. Rogers Unison powered by BroadSoft supports this shift by providing each user with a business identity they can carry with them across all devices and networks – enabling businesses to scale without investing in premise-based telephony systems, and untethering employees from their landlines.”

“Together with BroadSoft, we are offering Canadian businesses access to North America’s first fully mobile solution that allows them to connect their entire business and team, while eliminating the need for dated desk phones,” adds Charlie Wade, Senior Vice President, Products and Solutions, Rogers Communications. “We’re thrilled to work with BroadSoft to bring this technology to the Canadian market as it offers our customers the potential to drive productivity and save significant costs to be reinvested in their business.”
