BroadSoft announces FedRAMP compliance process underway for cloud-based unified communications solution

BroadSoft’s secure communication solution, already trusted by several government agencies, pursuing FedRAMP compliance.

Gaithersburg, MD, June 28, 2016 – BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSFT), a global unified communication software as a service (UCaaS) leader, is taking its BroadCloud® platform and UC-One® application through the FedRAMP compliance process. Compliance will enable BroadSoft’s public sector channel partners to more rapidly deliver cloud-based PBX and unified communication and collaboration services to government agencies.

The BroadSoft Government Cloud offering can deliver advanced UC and PBX tools that foster collaboration, improve productivity and cultivate a more accessible, open work environment – while helping agencies meet their directives to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and accelerate innovation at all levels. As part of the BroadSoft Government Cloud portfolio, BroadSoft has built a separate instance of the BroadCloud platform and UC-One application optimized specifically for government agencies, which enables accelerated access to secure UCaaS by minimizing the obstacles associated with implementing new technology in environments with stringent compliance requirements such as FedRAMP.

In addition to the dedicated instance of the BroadCloud platform built for government, BroadSoft is also set to release a new version of its BroadCloud software that further supports government agencies’ FedRAMP compliance requirements for use of cloud services. This new BroadCloud version includes a number of extended security controls and capabilities such as PIV (personal identity verification).

“BroadSoft is the trusted unified communications company for hundreds of telecommunications service providers, including 25 of the top 30 by revenue, located in 80 countries, and we are thrilled to strengthen our commitment to the U.S. government market through the FedRAMP compliance process,” said Scott Hoffpauir, chief technology officer, BroadSoft. “Security, reliability and compliance have always been core components of our carrier-grade cloud UC offerings, and we look forward to offering government customers the highest level of protection for their communications.”

Achieving Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) compliance will enable BroadSoft to become part of the list of officially authorized cloud service providers recognized by the U.S. government as meeting the strict security requirements required by government systems today. FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. This approach uses a “do once, use many times” framework that saves an estimated 30-40% of government costs, as well as both time and staff required to conduct redundant agency security assessments.
