Broadcast RF End-use Equipment Market Steady and Nearing US$1 Billion

Via ABI Research Media Releases

Sep 9, 2015

Scottsdale, Arizona - 09 Sep 2015

The global market for Broadcast RF End-Use Equipment is still driven by digital television (DTV) for the most part. “Historically this market has been viewed as flat and not very exciting,” says ABI Research’s Research Director Lance Wilson. “In general, most of the RF industry as a whole has overlooked and dismissed the market. That, it turns out, is an error. DTV and FM broadcasting are still expanding at a measured but nevertheless positive rate.”

This market is powered by the rise in digital broadcasting, both television and radio, but especially DTV. Some analog TV services are starting to decline somewhat, but the total demand for RF end-use equipment for broadcasting looks promising for the next 10 years. Regionally, growth will be driven by the phased switchover to DTV as it occurs in different countries. The total market is nearing US$1 billion annually and continues to chug along in an orderly fashion.

“Historically this market has favored well-established incumbents,” says Wilson. “But it’s not at all an adverse environment for new entrants if performance and pricing goals are met; although new players will not have an easy task.”

ABI Research’s new report, RF Power Equipment and Systems for Broadcast Applications examines the major sub-segments of terrestrial broadcasting services for both sound and video and how those segments will fair over the next 5 years through 2020.

It forms part of the firm’s RF Power End-Use Equipment Markets Research Service.
