NAPERVILLE, Illinois, 26 July 2016 – Coriant, a global supplier of SDN-enabled packet optical networking solutions, today announced that Aureon Technology, a leading provider of network transport services and business communications solutions, is deploying the Coriant® 7100 Nano Packet Optical Transport Platform to enhance the scalability, flexibility, and reliability of its world-class Aureon Fiber Optic Network. The Coriant 100 Gigabit (100G) coherent optical solution, delivered in collaboration with T3 Wireless, will enable Aureon Technology to improve the performance of its end-to-end connectivity services and cost-efficiently scale network capacity to meet the current and evolving voice, video, and data needs of its rural and metropolitan-based customers.

"Access to reliable and high-quality broadband services is critical to economic development and business growth as application demands become increasingly dynamic and bandwidth intensive," said Will Walling, Vice President of Network Services, Aureon Technology. "By partnering with Coriant and T3 Wireless, we can offer best-in-class technology innovation to boost the scalability and performance of our fiber optic network to better serve our clients."

The Aureon Fiber Optic Network, which spans thousands of miles and connects hundreds of communities, provides the resilient broadband foundation for Aureon's clients. To continue to meet the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth, Aureon Technology is partnering with Coriant to add their 7100 Nano platform to a large portion of the Aureon Technology core DWDM network to support transmission speeds of 100G per wavelength. The industry-leading packet optical transport solution also supports a wide variety of services types (e.g., OTN, Ethernet, packet, and SONET/SDH), enabling Aureon Technology to further customize its solutions and implement them quickly. Initial deployment will span the northeast quadrant of the state of Iowa and include ten network nodes.

"Coriant is committed to helping customers like Aureon Technology deliver the most competitive and high-value services in the markets they serve," said Joe Shilgalis, Regional Vice President, North America, Coriant. "The feature rich capabilities of the 7100 Nano make it an ideal solution for rural operators and fiber consortia looking to non-disruptively introduce new levels of network scalability and service agility, while improving operational efficiencies."

To successfully manage changing applications and unpredictable network requirements, the 7100 Nano transitions seamlessly from grey light to multi-degree ROADM configurations. At the same time, the 7100 Nano supports SONET/SDH, OTN switching, integrated packet, 10G/40G/100G transmissions, and wavelength services including full non-blocking grooming of all protocols – all on a single, compact platform. From 10G to 100G and from transparent to SONET/SDH, OTN, or packet grooming, the 7100 Nano can be tailored to meet specific network requirements easily and cost-efficiently. In combination with the Coriant® Pluggable Optical Layer, the 7100 Nano solution offers network operators additional tools to mix and match functional components to meet customized application requirements, while preserving investments and lowering costs.
