Broadcom and Popsecu Deliver Payment Terminal Reference Design

Turnkey mPOS/POS Platform Speeds Customer Time to Market

PARIS - November 17, 2015 - CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS - Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced it has been working with POPSECU Technology Co. Ltd, to develop turnkey platforms for secure payment transactions and provide a customizable reference design for Mobile Point of Sale (mPOS)/POS systems. Built on Broadcom's StrataGX™ BCM5810X family of secure processors and leveraging Popsecu's system hardware/software and security certification expertise, the new platform will enable customers to bring cost-effective, power-efficient Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Europay, Mastercard and Visa (EMV) compliant products to market quickly. Broadcom is a leading supplier of secure processors for worldwide POS terminals. The payment industry is undergoing rapid growth, over 35% growth in 20141, as well as disruption, as merchants evaluate smaller, "smarter" form factors using mobile phone and tablet form factors. The Broadcom BCM5810X is a next-generation family of low-power, secure microcontrollers that incorporate the industry's most advanced hardware security and versatile payment terminal interfaces in a very small package to optimize for the emerging mPOS market. The BCM5810x is enhanced with BroadSAFE™ Security, which provides exceptionally strong hardware-based protection for critical user and payment data without impacting system performance. The microcontroller family also includes the option of an integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) radio.

"The revolution in the payment industry is drawing a huge number of new entrants developing innovative POS form factors and delivering creative new services that need these solutions certified to receive payments so they can quickly get them to market," said Dan Harding, Broadcom Vice President of Marketing, Compute & Connectivity. "Through our partnership with Popsecu, we now can provide a complete turnkey software and hardware reference platform that will make it possible for our customers to launch products in only a few months."

"Proven, PCI-certifiable security is the number one challenge for our customers," said Raymond Shi, Popsecu Technology CEO. "By combining Broadcom's secure processors with our system hardware/software and expertise in the PCI certification process, we can provide customers with solutions that address today's payment security issues across a range of payment scenarios."

The complete hardware and software reference designs are cost effective and support the long battery life or compact batteries required by small form factor mobile payment solutions, including mPOS, PINpad, smartPOS and embedded payment modules. The reference designs come with a full secure payment bundle including customizable features and stylish form factor options. Popsecu solutions integrate EMV L1/L2 contact and NFC/contactless smartcard and magstripe (MSR) card readers, as well as multi-touch touchscreen input for PINpad and support for Windows, Android and iOS host platforms

Broadcom's StrataGX™ BCM5810X is in volume production. The new payment systems reference design is on display at Cartes Secure Connextions booth #G014, Hall 4.
