- Deutsche Telekom continues nationwide roll-out of fiber-optic lines in business parks
- Best infrastructure for the digital transformation, with bandwidths of up to 1 Gbit/s
- 75 municipalities to benefit from the roll-out
05-02-2018: About 49,000 businesses get ultra-high-speed Internet connections of up to 1 GBit/s. This initiative is the third tranche of fiber-optic roll-out by Deutsche Telekom in business parks.
“Business parks are at the heart of our fiber-optic build-out strategy. We are thinking nationwide, urban and rural, north, south, east and west. The decisive factor for us is customer demand, and we are pleased to be able to offer our business customers fiber-optic lines in a further 75 cities and communities across the country," says Hagen Rickmann, Director for Business Customers at Telekom Deutschland.
“We will execute this project quickly and supply the businesses with ultramodern technology, offering them the best infrastructure for the digital transformation. The roll-out continues, and our goal is to connect 3,000 business parks across Germany to our fiber-optic network (FTTH)," continues Rickmann.
In the course of the current project, Deutsche Telekom will lay 3,500 kilometers of fiber-optic cables and link the company locations directly to the fiber-optic network in 2019. In all 75 municipalities Deutsche Telekom will be using the microtrenching technology. This method is sustainable and also saves time and money during construction, making it less burdensome for residents.
Companies that decide early on to switch to Deutsche Telekom’s fiber-optic network in the business parks will be connected at no additional charge. The range of fiber-optic rate plans runs from asymmetric 100 Mbit/s business customer lines through to symmetric 1 Gbit/s lines.
Deutsche Telekom invests around five billion euros every year and operates Europe’s largest fiber-optic network, which is over 460,000 kilometers in length.
The municipalities being offered fiber-optic lines by Deutsche Telekom include the following: Aachen, Achim, Alfeld, Alzenau, Attendorn, Augsburg, Bayreuth, Berlin, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Bönen, Braunschweig, Bremerhaven, Brühl, Darmstadt, Dettelbach, Dormagen, Dortmund, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Eschborn, Essen, Frankfurt, Grünkraut, Hagen, Hamburg, Hanover, Hausach, Heidelberg, Heinsdorfergrund, Herzebrock-Clarholz, Hürth, Kaiserslautern, Kiel, Kirchlengern, Kirkel, Klipphausen, Koblenz, Köln, Krefeld, Laatzen, Langenau, Langenfeld, Leipzig, Lüdenscheid, Ludwigsfelde, Mainz, Meckenheim, Meerane, Meerbusch, Memmingen, Michelfeld, Mindelheim, Montabaur, Munich, Neuss, Nürnberg, Papenburg, Pforzheim, Pulheim, Ransbach-Baumbach, Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Rheinfelden, Rudolstadt, Schönefeld, Schweinfurt, Seevetal, Strullendorf, Stuttgart, Sundern, Taucha, Twist, Ulm, Waldshut-Tiengen, Wiesbaden und Wolfsburg.
