Four new ISPs join CityFibre’s networks to bring Gigabit Broadband to homes nationwide

Via CityFibre

Dec 4, 2020

  • Air Broadband, Highnet, Triangle Networks and Trunk Networks to launch consumer services across CityFibre’s networks.
  • New customers mark significant increase in consumer-focused ISPs attracted to CityFibre as its wholesale model encourages retail competition.
  • ISPs to target rapidly expanding full fibre footprints while leveraging CityFibre’s extensive local marketing activities

CityFibre, the UK’s third national digital infrastructure platform, has announced that four new internet service providers (ISPs) have joined its full fibre networks to deliver Gigabit-capable broadband services to homes across the country.

Air Broadband, Highnet, Triangle Networks and Trunk Networks are the latest ISPs to join CityFibre’s rapidly expanding open access networks, targeting the hundreds of thousands of homes covered by its newly deployed full fibre infrastructure. Each has committed to acquiring significant volumes of new customers in towns and cities across CityFibre’s networks and all are currently mobilising in preparation for imminent consumer launches. Some have chosen to do so under newly created consumer brands.

Air Broadband will initially offer services in Cambridge, Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft. In Scotland, HighNet will launch consumer services in Inverness before expansion across other Scottish markets. In the South of England, Triangle Networks will be offering its services in Milton Keynes while Trunk Networks will begin marketing its full fibre services in Eastbourne and Worthing before adding new locations across the South.

All consumer ISPs joining CityFibre’s networks have access to its market-leading symmetrical Gigabit broadband service, enabling them to offer dependable, ultra-fast broadband access to consumers at highly competitive prices. The ISPs are also able to leverage the extensive in-city marketing activities undertaken by CityFibre to drive awareness and take-up. This has been found to be particularly effective for ISPs marketing throughout the build-phase as local communities are informed of the rollout and benefits of full fibre to their area.

Greg Mesch, Chief Executive Officer at CityFibre, said: “CityFibre has always set out to be the spark that will drive competition in the market – at both the infrastructure and retail layer. As we welcome four more partners to our growing full fibre networks, we are seeing that competition brought to life. In just over two years, we have created a competitive ecosystem for ISPs that will result in greater choice for ISPs, better services for consumers and a better outcome for the entire country.”
