AT&T, KDDI Offer Wi-Fi, WarnerMedia Content to Mazda Vehicles

Via AT&T News Room

Dec 15, 2020

AT&T* and KDDI, a Japanese telecommunications service provider, have teamed up to bring industry-leading connected car capabilities to Mazda vehicles across the U.S., enabling streaming of best-in-class entertainment and more.

Mazda will enable AT&T 4G LTE connectivity for thousands of 2021 Mazda CX-5 and CX-9 cars and will continue through later models across the U.S. These capabilities will be supported by the KDDI Global Communications Platform, which provides high-quality and reliable global communication worldwide.

Mazda owners can turn their vehicles into Wi-Fi hotspots connecting to up to five smartphones or tablets at once supporting email, browsing, gaming and more. In addition, passengers will have access to a robust selection of premium content across news, sports and family entertainment through WarnerMedia’s WarnerMedia RIDE™ app.

Access is included with eligible complimentary trials and unlimited AT&T in-car Wi-Fi® data plans at no extra charge.

"Working with AT&T, we are enhancing the KDDI Global Communications Platform to bring the best customer experience to Mazda Connected Services owners. This helps allow their drivers to benefit from a great in-car experience” said Masatoshi Nobuhara, President & CEO KDDI America, Inc. “It is a great honor to contribute to this project that aims for a future where vehicles are connected all over the world.”

“With this collaboration, we’re keeping Mazda owners connected to the world around them and the content they love,” said Joe Mosele, vice president, Mobility and Internet of Things, AT&T Business. “Our collaboration will ensure that Mazda owners can be connected just about anywhere, while our world-class content from WarnerMedia will provide news and entertainment on-the-go for the whole family.”

With WarnerMedia RIDE, passengers can enjoy a rotating selection of custom live streams and more than 1,000 hours of on-demand TV shows and movies when their device is connected to AT&T in-car Wi-Fi®. That includes animation, news and sports programming and content from brands such as Bleacher Report, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, CNN, TBS, TNT and more. You can download the WarnerMedia RIDE app on the App Store (iOS 11+) or Google Play (Android 9+.)

Mazda owners can sign up now through AT&T’s in-car Wi-Fi account dashboard with complimentary 3-month or 2GB (whichever comes first) trials for eligible vehicle purchases.
