We are in the convention center in Dublin for the Fuse 25 event and industry body, the NGMN Alliance has just held a 6G in the hot seat session. The room was packed. It was standing room only, and there was a lot of really great interaction with the audience. A lot of really great discussion around some of the ideas about what new use cases and services and applications there could be in the 6G world. And the answer is nobody really quite knows yet. But what there was consensus about is that the underlying architecture for 6G needs to be disaggregated to give the flexibility for AIOps, cloud-native, CI/CD, and also needs to be open. And that open aspect is absolutely critical so that the operators through their networks can gain access to all of the data sources they need for the real time decision-making that's going to be required for automation in the 6G era.
Cayetano Carbajo Martín, NGMN & Telefónica (01:11):
We are now defining what are the requirement the 6G has to fulfill. So it is important that all the industry we discuss together how we want the 6G to be. It is not only a problem of having a new box and any technology that will drive some investment and nothing else. It is a question of defining the requirement for the new services that I mentioned before for the new automation mechanism that we'll need in the network. So the broader of the discussion is when we are defining the requirement, the different approach will be taking into account and this new standard, this new technology will be fulfilling all these requirements.
