Wireless carriers and their partners are all working to ensure the U.S. wins the race to 5G, and Sprint is helping to lead that charge. Investing significantly in our network through the deployment of tools such as small cell solutions and Massive MIMO technology, we are unleashing the power of our company’s deep spectrum holdings to bring customers the first 5G mobile network in the country in the first half of 2019. Policymakers at the federal, state and local levels have made recent strides to help achieve that goal, but there’s still work to be done. To solidify the U.S. as the global 5G leader, U.S. lawmakers and regulators must continue to reform and adopt rules that streamline and encourage wireless broadband deployment. Today, at CTIA’s “Race to 5G” event in Washington, D.C., Sprint CTO Dr. John Saw offered his perspective on the policy and regulatory challenges and opportunities for carriers to meet the demands of customers, and why it is in the interest of policymakers at the federal, state and local levels to support rules that will speed the small-cell deployments that are crucial to 5G connectivity and the needs of citizens.
