  • Franz Seiser, DT; Marcus Brunner, Swisscom; and Gabriele Di Piazza, VMware on what's needed for 5G
  • Opinions divide on whether 5G will rely on NFV
  • Automation v. Orchestration: which is most important?

Panel Discussion Highlights

Some in the industry are of the opinion that 5G cannot exist without the presence and use of fully virtualised networks. The jury is out on that but, as this entertaining panel discussion shows, others believe that 5G certainly cannot exist without cloudification.

The participants also analyse other technologies that will be a pre-requisite to the introduction of 5G. One of the points most strongly made is that automation will be more important that orchestration - a point of view that, again, not all industry players agree with.

The panel also give their opinion on when and where communications services providers will be able to begin to harvest the returns on their extensive and costly investment in 5G.

Featuring:
Franz Seiser, VP of Core Network & Services, Deutsche Telekom
Marcus Brunner, Chief Researcher, Head of Standardization, Swisscom
Gabriele Di Piazza, Vice President, Solutions Telco NFV, VMware
