Amrith Kumar, Network Operations, Fellow, Verizon Wireless

Verizon explains how the telco is progressing with its network transformation project and the virtualisation of its global network, as well as the move to incorporate more open source projects. It says the response from vendors has been fantastic, given its rather exacting requirements. But what is open networking and why is it of benefit to telcos? Verizon explains that open source brings the ability for a much wider group of people to come together and innovate, meeting the needs of a bigger group of customers and so driving the pace of innovation.
