Via ZTE Press Center

Jun 29, 2016

29 June 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced the MWC Shanghai 2016 launch of Big Video 4K+ after releasing its Big Video, Big Future — ZTE Big Video White Paper V1.0 . The 4K+ solution focuses on operators' concerns to provide a technical solution covering fixed-mobile convergence (FMC), smart operation, smart O&M and smart terminal. The solution realises a virtual reality (VR) -based big video service experience for the first time in the industry to give users the best video experience. At MWC Shanghai, ZTE demonstrated VR-based video on demand (VOD), live TV, time shifted TV (TSTV) services for the first time, marking a breakthrough in the FMC domain.

ZTE Big Video 4K+ fixed-mobile convergence

The ZTE Big Video 4K+ fixed-mobile convergence solution is a converged solution for operators' fixed networks and mobile networks. Through service platform integration, CDN integration and multi-screen terminal integration, it meets operators' video service requirements and features unified platform, flexible networking, smart O&M, multi-screen interaction and ultimate HD to realize the best video experience for end users. According to Mr. Fang Hui, VP of ZTE, the core of the ZTE Big Video 4K+ solution lies in FMC innovations and technological strength.

ZTE Big Video 4K+ smart operation

The ZTE Big Video 4K+ smart operation solution is based on big data analysis technology and is a one-stop all-scenario advertising solution for operators. It supports multimedia ads to be displayed and interacted on all types of terminals and realises ad release by category and precision marketing by using user grouping, regional management and big data analysis technologies. It also creates backward charging channels for operators. The 4K+ smart operation solution features all-scenario coverage, precise ad release, flexible policy adoption, easy management, open system architecture, high scalability, and powerful statistical analysis to meet customers' requirements for customising different forms of ads such as text, picture, and video for different user groups.

ZTE Big Video 4K+ smart O&M

The ZTE Big Video 4K+ smart operations and maintenance (O&M) solution uses big data platform architecture, integrates end-to-end operation and maintenance data and makes use of big data mining and analysis capability to provide a visualised O&M user interaction interface. With powerful massive data processing capability, it supports end-to-end smart fault location and analysis and provides an excellent visualised user experience to fully satisfy customers' all-round maintenance requirements and improve the end user video experience. It is widely recognised by operators and was been first put into application by Jiangsu Telecom and Sichuan Telecom, who used the ZTE Big Video 4K+ smart O&M to help with its live broadcast of the Spring Festival Gala.

ZTE Big Video 4K+ smart terminal

The ZTE Big Video 4K+ smart terminal solution provides a series of 4K ultra HD smart terminals. The true 4K, smart and converged terminals provide users with a clear, fluent and high-speed video experience. In terms of hardware, the solution realises the technical specifications defined in the 4K Smart STB White Paper , such as a refreshing rate up to 60 frames/second and colour scale up to 10big, and uses HDR technology to provide a true 4K UHD experience. In terms of software, the terminals run on Android OS and support Java virtual machine (JVM) to facilitate deployment of value-added services so as to provide rich apps for users. They integrate ZTE's smart home services such as multi-screen interaction, video call, smart home and voice control.

Mr. Fang Hui, VP of ZTE, believes that the ZTE Big Video 4K+ solution is the most practical and valuable solution at the early development stage of Big Video. It can effectively and rapidly help customers establish end-to-end platforms supporting the best video experience to gain a competitive edge and attract more users.

ZTE maintains the largest market share in the global big video market. By now, ZTE has more than 80 commercial offices with the total system capacity up to 50 million and more than 80 international content delivery network (CDN) projects with a total concurrency capability of up to 30T. The Jiangsu Telecom office, with over 6 million users,[ is the largest single office in the world. Indonesia Telekom developed over one million new users within one year.
