SecureWorks delivers powerhouse of security intelligence and threat prevention with Palo Alto Networks Security Platform

Via Dell

Jul 14, 2016

SecureWorks Corp. (NASDAQ: SCWX) today announced an integration which combines the high-fidelity portions of its proprietary Attacker Database with the Palo Alto Networks® Next-Generation Security Platform as part of the SecureWorks managed Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewall Service. This solution is designed to enhance security for organizations worldwide with additional threat intelligence.

The SecureWorks Attacker Database contains a list of domain names and IP addresses used to conduct malicious activity. The threat intelligence data feed provided by the Attacker Database can be applied to clients’ managed Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall using its external dynamic list functionality. This integration will enable Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall devices to be configured to prevent cyberattacks by proactively blocking traffic to known malicious domain names and IP addresses, with blocklists being automatically updated using the Attacker Database threat intelligence feed.

The SecureWorks Attacker Database solution provides organizations with access to a data feed of IP addresses and domain names associated with web-based exploits, malware, command and control servers (computers used by threat actors to deliver commands/and or malware to its compromised computers and mobile devices), and other known malicious IT infrastructure. By integrating this threat intelligence with managed Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls, SecureWorks is providing organizations with an additional level of protection against malicious threats and attacks.

“Next-Generation Firewalls are an important part of an effective defense against today’s threats,” said Matt Eberhart, executive director of global product management at SecureWorks. “Combining these capabilities with the high-fidelity portions of our Attacker Database, our managed Palo Alto Networks solutions deliver our advanced threat intelligence and immediate protections to proactively block threats before they enter our clients’ environments.”

The Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Security Platform, composed of its next-generation firewalls, threat intelligence cloud, and advanced endpoint protection, safely enables applications through granular use of controls and prevention of known and unknown threats across the network and cloud. Palo Alto Networks WildFireTM cloud-based malware analysis environment and Palo Alto Networks Next Generation Firewall offer a prevention-oriented, platform-based approach to cybersecurity, and this fully integrated offering can be managed by SecureWorks.

Adopting the SecureWorks Next-Generation Firewall Management Service helps organizations reduce management and monitoring costs and provides unmetered support from SecureWorks’ highly-trained security experts. The solution also offers flexible co-management options, policy and rule-set management, device upgrades and patch management, backup and recovery, as well as extensive security and compliance reporting capabilities. Organizations that use SecureWorks to monitor and manage their security appliances benefit from the visibility and correlation of data across security technologies and thousands of customer networks to detect and prevent threats prior to impact.

At the core of SecureWorks’ software-driven security solutions is its technology platform, the Counter Threat Platform (CTP), which provides an early warning system for evolving threats. CTP extends the ability to prevent security breaches, detect malicious activity, rapidly respond to incidents, and predict emerging threats. This intelligence-driven approach provides holistic security protection for SecureWorks’ clients and across their expanding ecosystem of security point products.

"SecureWorks is a key member of our managed security services program and a strategic partner for organizations who understand the importance of a prevention-oriented approach to cybersecurity,” said Terry Ramos, vice president of Business Development at Palo Alto Networks. “Joint customers can now benefit from the Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Security Platform as part of their managed security solutions.”
