Rutgers University Transforms Financial, Management Reporting, and Human Resources Processes with Oracle Cloud

Via Oracle Press Room

Oct 14, 2015

Redwood Shores Calif—Oct 14, 2015

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, has contracted with Oracle to provide a series of services to streamline the university's finance, management reporting, and human resources (HR) functions.

After integrating with most of the schools, institutes, and clinical practices of the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2013, Rutgers found itself running different HR, enterprise resource planning, and other systems. Rutgers decided to take a “cloud first” approach to overhaul these legacy systems.

Rutgers is receiving a number of Oracle Cloud Applications, including Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud (ERP), Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Cloud, and Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud. In addition, Rutgers will use the Oracle Cloud Platform to integrate and extend existing on-premises IT systems with these next-generation cloud services.

“After a competitive process, Rutgers University entered into this agreement with Oracle to provide these services,” said Michael Gower, senior vice president for finance and treasurer, Rutgers.

With these Oracle services, Rutgers plans to achieve the following business outcomes:

  • Eliminate redundant systems and streamline business process
  • Create a consolidated single cloud-based HCM and payroll system for faculty and staff, including student employees
  • Streamline current manual and ad-hoc external and internal budget book reporting processes by bringing together data plus narrative in a single, secure, collaborative reporting environment by adopting Oracle Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud
  • Reduce IT complexity and costs by eliminating the initial and ongoing costs of purchasing, building out, and upgrading its IT infrastructure, while reducing its data center footprint and IT burden

“As Rutgers University embarks on this unique transformation project, Oracle ERP Cloud, Oracle EPM Cloud, and Oracle HCM Cloud collectively enable it to innovate faster, increase productivity, and lower costs,” said Jeff Henley, vice chairman of the board, Oracle. “With the comprehensive, integrated portfolio of platform services, Rutgers can better meet the evolving needs of its students, faculty, and staff.”
