KPN subsidiary RoutIT adds capacity, sets sights on virtualization with Oracle

Via Oracle Press Room

Oct 13, 2016

Redwood Shores, Calif.—Oct 13, 2016

KPN subsidiary RoutIT, which focuses on wholesale internet and telecommunications services, is deploying Oracle Communications solutions to expand its network capacity and develop a foundation to shift towards a virtualized network,

To support growth in its business and pass on greater value to its business partners and their customers, RoutIT needed a best-of-breed platform for its interconnect network.

RoutIT was drawn to the significant performance, capacity and security advantages of Oracle Communications ACME Packet 6300 session border controller. Equally important, was Oracle’s perpetual licensing model, which will help RoutIT plot a clear path to virtualization.

Oracle’s perpetual licensing model allows customers moving from a purpose built hardware environment to a fully-software-enabled world to transition its licensed capacity from one environment to the other without any additional cost.

“We needed a solution that could address our growing capacity needs while putting in place a path to virtualization,” said Berry Bartels, CTO, RoutIT. “Oracle’s proven technology combined with its perpetual licensing was an ideal fit on both fronts.”

In addition, RoutIT deployed Oracle Communications Operations Monitor (OCOM) enabling it to track end-to-end service and gain greater visibility into the network, ensuring faster troubleshooting and greater quality assurance. RoutIT will also be selling OCOM to its own business part.

“RoutIT is a great example of progressive approach we are seeing from fast-growing businesses with ambitious, innovative plans,” said Doug Suriano, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Oracle Communications. “With our industry leading products and our perpetual licensing models, Oracle offers both the technology and business model to empower service providers looking to evolve and move towards virtualization.”
