Jul 15, 2015

[Shanghai, China, July 15] At the MBB Open-Interconnect Industry Summit, Huawei launched the Open Mobile Foundry (OMF) platform and a Developers' Guide based on the platform. Tang Xiaoming, President of Huawei Global Sales and Key Accounts, said: "The launch of the OMF platform is a significant milestone for the MBB Open-Interconnect Industry. It is our hope that this becomes an innovation incubator for global partners and developers, breeding more opportunities as well as promoting the future prosperity of the MBB industry."

The summit was attended by nearly 140 operators, industry partners and developers from around the world, all of whom were actively engaged in sharing their creative practices and exploring business model innovation. Tencent, the global Internet giant, stated: "This past February, Tencent established a joint innovation lab with Huawei. We have developed solutions based on the exposure of network capability to enhance users' mobile gaming experience and have verified them in the Province of Guangdong. The results are very impressive. So we expect to do more joint innovations in the future." Another partner, iQIYI, the leading video content provider in China, said: "Through our cooperation with Huawei, iQIYI is integrating video CDN inside telecom network in Jiangsu Province to improve users' experience." GFK, a consulting company, said: "The location exposure of the operators' network provides a great space for service innovation." And Opera, an international IT company, said: "Based on Huawei's open platform, Opera is offering video optimization by way of fast software integration in UK."

At the conference, R&D experts and developers discussed their plans for cooperation. Over 10 were agreed upon. One of the developers involved in the discussions said "This innovative platform includes not only hardware and software, but also many supporting services. It can provide opportunities to the small venture company and even individual developers to grow bigger, stronger and even allowing them to go global!'

The OMF is an industry leading platform for application integration and capability exposure. It can expose network capabilities to OTTs and vertical markets to support service and business model innovations by standard APIs.
