Enhanced HPE XP7 delivers improved performance and new data reduction capabilities

Palo Alto, CA – Oct 25, 2016 – Today, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced enhancements to HPE XP7 Storage to provide customers with increased performance and capacity utilization for greater consolidation and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

Enterprise customers requiring ultra-high storage performance and resiliency are increasingly deploying hyper-dense, flash-based, mission-critical storage systems to meet these needs. HPE has a number of customers across sectors such as financial services, manufacturing and health care using the XP7 Storage in both hybrid flash and all-flash configurations.

The latest enhancements to HPE XP7 Storage extend the performance and affordability of the platform for mission-critical flash environments. HPE is not only extending XP7 leadership in performance and availability, but making the XP7 platform more affordable via data reduction technologies such as compression and deduplication, now available for all-flash, hybrid and disk-based configurations.

New enhancements to the HPE XP7 Storage architecture include: • 60 percent greater performance (up to 4.8 million IOPS) to support large, mission-critical applications and large-scale consolidation.1 • Improved all-flash affordability at $1.20 per usable gigabyte.2 • Greater density with new 14TB flash module devices (FMDs), which also support hardware-accelerated inline data compression. • New software-based deduplication and compression capabilities available across FMDs, solid state drives and hard disk drives. • New and improved XP7 Performance Advisor software for intuitive performance monitoring and troubleshooting. • Improved high availability options and new data migration packages delivered via software for easy migration from legacy XP systems to HPE XP7 Storage.

1 4.8 million IOPS, 100% 8K Random Read @ 1 millisecond latency. Comparison based on performance testing of an XP7 with Gen 2 controllers, 14TB FMDs vs currently shipping XP7 systems 2 Usable capacity based a 4:1 compaction ratio on a 196TB configuration using 14TB FMDs, RAID 5 (7,1)
