Telia calls for customers to go paperless and go Green

Telia in Estonia promises to plant a tree for every customer who moves to digital invoicing.

Leelo Kallikorm, E-commerce Manager at Telia Estonia, says Telia Estonia’s new month-long campaign encourages customers to switch to digital invoices via Telia’s self-service portal or at Telia’s retail stores. Customers can choose to receive their electronic invoices to the self-service portal, via email or to their online bank accounts.

The main aim of the campaign is to support Telia’s environmental goals for 2030 by reducing CO2 emission and waste to zero via responsible digitalization. For each move to digital invoice, Telia will plant one tree in cooperation with the State Forest Management Center.

“Together we will plant more than 5,000 trees in the spring. This idea has been very well received in Telia. We hope that this positive reaction spills over to customers. Globally, paper bills make up ten percent of all paper produced from wood, which is a huge amount,” says Kallikorm.

Telia Estonia’s goal is to issue 95 percent of invoices electronically by 2022. Although the number of paper bills is constantly reducing - for instance this year Telia has sent out 10,000 fewer paper bills compared to last year - many customers still receive paper invoices.
