ZTE wins 70% overall allocation of contracts for newly-commissioned networks in China Mobile Phase 2 CM-IMS tender

5 Aug 2015, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, announced the company won large-scale orders for IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core network solutions from China Mobile to enable the rollout of voice over LTE (VoLTE) services.

ZTE was awarded contracts in China Mobile’s Phase 2 CM-IMS centralized tender in major provinces including Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Shandong, Sichuan and Fujian. ZTE received one of the highest allocations among participating vendors, and will provide China Mobile with a full-range of VoLTE core network solutions covering equipment and systems integration.

China Mobile’s CM-IMS Phase 2 project comprises newly-commissioned networks and upgrades of existing networks. Of the 12 tranches in the new network portion of the CM-IMS Phase 2 project, covering 28 provinces, ZTE gained 70% market share in seven tranches, and 100% allocation in three further tranches.

The CM-IMS network provides users with an integrated full-service end-to-end solution based on the international IMS standard. ZTE’s market-leading IMS solutions cover the core network, service platform, access system, terminals, and other supporting systems, providing comprehensive support to China Mobile’s unified communication products.

An increasing number of 4G operators globally are deploying VoLTE voice services. As operator of the world’s biggest 4G LTE network, China Mobile views VoLTE as a key technolgy. As early as in June 2013, China Mobile already released the VoLTE White Paper, and decided to use VoLTE as the LTE voice solution.

ZTE IMS solutions are deployed by operators around the world, and the company has actively participated in interconnection tests with major global operators. ZTE had long-term collaboration with China Mobile on VoLTE regarding standard internationalization, international MSF tests, specification formulation, and IOT tests.
