ZTE Presents Plans for Transformative M-ICT Innovations at Annual Analyst Conference

Via ZTE Press Center

Jul 13, 2015

Delegates at ZTE Global Analyst Conference 2015 in Shanghai briefed on company’s insights on 5G, SDN, Cloud Computing and Big Data

13 July 2015, Shanghai, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today presented insights on key trends driving the global technology industry and outlined the company's plans to excel in innovations that help carriers, enterprises, public sector customers, consumers and partners capitalize on new market opportunities.

As the Internet of Things makes the world more connected, ZTE will intensify research on 5G, SDN (Software Defined Networks), cloud computing and Big Data to help customers build next-generation networks and technology infrastructure supporting more dynamic services provisioning, Chief Technology Officer Dr Zhao Xianming said today at the ZTE Global Analyst Conference in Shanghai. Guest speakers including Dr. Shan Zhiguang, Director for the State Information Center's Informatization Research Department, and Hidebumi Kitahara, Senior Director of SoftBank, also addressed the conference.

"In the future, billions of objects and machines will acquire broadband connectivity, and data growth will be further accelerated as industries and government services become digitalized," Dr. Zhao said. "As the global technology ecosystem becomes more diverse and complex, all stakeholders need to become more open to collaboration to drive innovations that benefit consumers and businesses."

ZTE, the world's fastest-growing provider of 4G LTE network solutions, is leading industry efforts on research on 5G and other next-generation network technologies. The company has announced partnerships with leading global carriers including China Mobile and SoftBank on ZTE's proprietary pre5G network solutions, which enable customers to emulate future 5G network characteristics and performance on existing 4G infrastructure.

ZTE will also focus on innovations in SDN and NFV (network function virtualization) to help operators migrate to more scalable and flexible network infrastructures in anticipation of growing user demand, Dr. Zhao said. In 2014, ZTE launched its ElasticNet SDN IPRAN (internet protocol radio access network) solution to help customers virtualize massive access-layer equipment, to simplify network operations and maintenance.

In the Enterprise and Government division, ZTE will focus on key industry verticals including transportation, energy, financial services, public sector and the Internet, harnessing the company's capabilities in telecommunications and enterprise computing to build converged solutions to help customers increase productivity and generate business efficiencies, Dr. Zhao said.

ZTE's Smart City 2.0 solutions will help drive innovations in technology and operation management for public sector customers, Dr. Zhao said. ZTE's Smart City solutions are deployed in more than 110 cities globally to deliver high-quality public services including healthcare and education to residents.

ZTE's Mobile Devices division will focus on user-centric product innovations to enable consumers to access cutting edge product design in smartphones, tablets and wearables, while seamlessly accessing personalized and productive applications and software.

In 2014, ZTE set up the Smart Voice Alliance with partners including Baidu, Nuance and Ambience to drive innovation in next-generation voice control on smart devices. The ZTE Star 2 smartphone offers the world's most comprehensive voice-control capabilities, featuring embedded system-level algorithms.

ZTE announced in 20014 a new mission to drive innovations in telecommunications, enterprise computing and consumer devices to help customers adapt and thrive in the era of intelligent, always-on connectivity under the company's M-ICT strategy.

Under the M-ICT strategy, ZTE is integrating its world-class capabilities in telecommunications networks, mobile devices and enterprise computing to drive transformative innovations to help customers navigate the transition to a world of greater technology convergence. Inspired by ZTE's core values of Cool, Green and Open (CGO), the company is in a strong position to build innovative and powerful integrated solutions to deliver value to customers.
