Orange Fiber: already one million customers strong in France

Paris, Thursday, January 28, 2016

Orange has just exceeded the one-millionth customer mark for its Fiber services in France . This success is down to our dynamic sales and technical teams, as well as the appeal and quality of service of our offers.

Orange intends to sustain this momentum in 2016 with our 100% Fiber delivering end-to-end fiber optic broadband to customers (the general public, professionals, and businesses). Currently, more than two in three homes in Lyon and Paris are eligible for 100% Fiber. In Nice, Caen, Metz and Montpellier, this figure already stands at one in two homes. Proof indeed that the rollout of Orange’s fiber network is continuing apace.

All in all, Orange Fiber covers more than five million connectable homes across nearly 800 municipalities in mainland France and its overseas departments (Les DOMs) – up 40% on the year 2015. Orange has set a target of 12 million connectable homes in France by 2018, with this set to rise to 20 million by 2022. As part of our Essentials 2020 strategic plan, Orange is planning to increase investments into fiber in France threefold by 2020. To this end, three billion euros will be invested into FTTH (Fiber To The Home) between 2015 and 2018.

Announcing this decision, Stéphane Richard said:

This is hugely satisfying for Orange and a real mark of the trust our customers place in us. What’s more, it’s a source of pride for all of the teams committed to this endeavor! By rolling out this leading network and marketing services that meet our customers’ expectations for ever faster and more powerful connected experiences, we are showing that Orange is at the forefront of innovation for both fiber and 4G.

By the end of 2015, Orange had amassed close to 1.9 million fiber customers and almost 13 million fiber connectable homes throughout Europe. Thanks to FTTO (Fiber To The Office), Orange’s growth in the corporate market is gathering pace in France with more than 31,000 customer sites connected to date.
