St Petersburg, 1 June 2017. MegaFon, an integrated digital communications company, and Uber, the world’s largest ridesharing platform, today signed a agreement of intent at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum. Within the planned partnership, MegaFon subscribers will enjoy special terms for city rides from the popular service, and Uber drivers will benefit from more favorable mobile tariffs.
The planned partnership envisages that MegaFon clients will get beneficial terms for their first trip with Uber, while MegaFon cardholders who use Uber will be able to save on rides. Meanwhile, MegaFon will offer Uber drivers a special cost-effective rate for data traffic when using the Uber app on a smartphone or tablet. The companies also intend to explore opportunities for partnership on joint developments based on big data analysis.
MegaFon COO Anna Serebryanikova commented:
“As we promised in our new strategy, we are making steps towards creating an ecosystem of partnerships. Uber has changed our understanding of city transport, and today, the majority of people prefer to use apps to move around cities. Some 120,000 MegaFon clients a day use Uber on their mobile devices. I’m confident that MegaFon clients and Uber drivers will appreciate this partnership.”
Fraser Robinson, Head of Business Development, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Uber, commented:
“Uber offers riders across the world a reliable, safe and convenient way to move around the city, and we are constantly working on increasing the availability of our service. This partnership will reach millions of MegaFon’s customers and will enhance our ability to reach new Uber riders for the first time thanks to our joint efforts. We appreciate the opportunity to cooperate in the area of aggregated data analysis, and we are confident that such projects will create new prospects for Uber’s further development in Russia.”
