MEF17’s award-winning proof of concept demonstrations advance agile, assured, and orchestrated services over automated networks

Teams involving 17 companies received PoC Awards for innovations aligned with the MEF 3.0 transformational global services framework

Los Angeles, 1 December 2017 – MEF proudly recognized 17 service and technology companies as Gold, Silver, and Bronze Proof of Concept Award Winners at the recent MEF17 event held in Orlando, Florida. Twenty-five companies in 11 participant groups participated in the MEF17 Proof of Concept Showcase, which focused on enabling agile, assured, and orchestrated services across automated, virtualized, and interconnected networks.

“MEF appreciates the contributions of all of the outstanding teams involved in the 2017 PoC Showcase and congratulates the standout players who won this year’s awards,” said Kevin Vachon, COO, MEF. “Over the past year, we have seen an extraordinary level of industry collaboration driving the transition to agile, assured, and orchestrated services over automated networks powered by LSO (Lifecycle Service Orchestration), SDN, and NFV. We are particularly excited by the progress we are seeing with services orchestrated across multiple operators and network technology domains.”

2017 Proof of Concept Award Winners include the following:

Proof of Concept Gold Award

Service on Demand: Global Virtual Inter-Carrier Fabric Orchestrated by LSO APIs with Open-Source Framework. AT&T, Orange Business Services, Colt, Amdocs, Ciena, and Fujitsu Network Communications.

Proof of Concept Silver Award

Agile SD-WAN with Complementary Virtualized Functions over Multi Domains Including CE over 4G/LTE with Standardized LSO APIs for Vendor Interoperability. Telia Company, Kvantel, Nuage Networks, OneAccess, and RAD.

Proof of Concept Bronze Award (tie)

Integrated SD-WAN and Ethernet Network with Virtual Firewall. Spectrum Enterprise, Nuage Networks, and Palo Alto Networks

LSO SOF Topology Engine. CenturyLink, AT&T, Ericsson, Coriant, and Infinera

“The service and technology innovations demonstrated in the PoC Showcase are proof points along the journey to emerging MEF 3.0 services that will provide an on-demand, cloud-centric experience with unprecedented user- and application-directed control over network resources and service capabilities,” said Pascal Menezes, CTO, MEF. “We look forward to an accelerated pace of innovation as more companies embrace and drive development of MEF 3.0.”

The judging panel for the MEF 2017 Awards was comprised of senior analysts from ACG Research, ATLANTIC-ACM, Battle Green Research, Frost & Sullivan, Global Data, IHS Markit, Metanoia, Ovum, and Vertical Systems, in addition to independent judges.
