In the presence of French President François Hollande, Orange Gardens was inaugurated today by Orange Chairman and CEO Stéphane Richard and Orange Senior Executive Vice-President of Innovation, Marketing and Technologies Mari-Noëlle Jégo-Laveissière. This new site in Chatillon, on the outskirts of Paris, brings together more than 3,000 employees from seven sites in the Ile-de-France region who work in the field of research and innovation.

“Innovation, has always been one of the Group’s fundamentals, and must be the expression of Orange’s mission: transforming technology into progress each day and serving people through innovation. To put the human context in the centre of our thinking, it is a choice we accept and that characterises us, this is a philosophy that now has a name: “Human Inside”.

“Human Inside”, it is both a slogan and a catchword, that gives meaning and which highlights all our action ” said Stéphane Richard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Orange. [

Orange Gardens: fostering collaboration and a competitive spirit with new practices

Orange Gardens embodies first and foremost a state of mind firmly oriented towards innovation, growth and the jobs of the future. This campus is intended to accelerate the implementation of Orange’s strategy.

Orange Gardens fosters new ways of working to increase Orange’s innovation capabilities. For instance, the “One Roof” method is an illustration of this process that brings together all members of a project team, in a single place.

Furthermore, the teams work closely with all of the Group’s entitie. They build a network of research and innovation centres in France and abroad, each within their innovation ecosystems and local areas of expertise.

As Mari-Noëlle Jégo-Laveissière, Senior Executive Vice-President of Innovation, Marketing and Technologies explains:

“Orange Gardens was conceived to accelerate innovation cycles. This campus is designed to promote the exchange of knowledge, learning and openness, and it brings together a community with a wealth of different and complementary profiles. We want to encourage closeness, cross-working and heightened agility to make Orange Gardens a genuine showcase of innovation. It’s an open area aiming to co-build future digital ecosystems, by collaborating with our partners” [

Orange Gardens, an open place conducive to co-innovation

Orange Gardens has welcome areas open to partners, whether academic, industrial, start-ups or key accounts.

It aims to encourage collaboration and access to expertise both within Orange and with outside partners. As part of this aim, Orange Gardens will feature a dedicated area for Orange Fab, the Group’s accelerator programme, for start-ups and Orange experts to meet and work together.

It includes areas designed specifically to elicit innovation in all its forms :

  • a showroom to discover Orange’s know-how and co-build the future innovations;
  • the Data Studio a place for training and awareness-building for employees in data marketing;
  • the ‘3rd place’ , a unique space inspired by the “Do It Yourself” and “Do It Together” culture, with workshops to encourage sharing.

Orange also devised an initiative to support digital-based artistic projects: The Art Factory. Artists receive assistance to help them conceive their works, either in the form of technology resources or in the form of expert advice. [

A large-scale, environmentally friendly real estate project

This property complex of more than 72,000 m2 divided among four buildings was designed with the environment in mind from the start, in line with Orange’s policy of corporate responsibility.

Orange Gardens is a high-quality environmentally friendly urban eco campus open to the city. It encourages “green” daily habits in which all employees can take part: waste sorting and collection, electrical transport and responsible purchasing policies.
