Huawei outlines gigaband network construction strategy and E2E access network solution at FTTH Conference 2017
[Marseille, France, February 21, 2017] At the FTTH Conference 2017 held in Marseille, France from February 14–16, Huawei together with 120 telecom operators and industry analysts, discussed strategies and solutions to address the challenges of gigabit access network construction and ensure an optimum user experience.
Under the exhibition theme of "Smarter Ways for Gigaband", Huawei focused on solving operators’ core challenges of providing gigabit access including: constructing networks efficiently and economically; rapidly developing services and improving the user experience; and evolving gigabit access networks to the cloud in the future.
To enable efficient network construction, Huawei showcased its E2E product innovations and comprehensive network construction solutions deployed by its customers, which involve multiple domains including NG PON, G.fast, DOCSIS 3.1 D-CCAP, and ODN. Huawei also demonstrated its home Wi-Fi solutions designed to speed service development and enhance the user experience. Additionally, Huawei and Beltelecom showcased their Smart Home service which is being deployed to provide a wealth of smart home applications for users in Belarus.
Huawei also invited mainstream operators and analysts to discuss the development of the Gigaband industry. At the Gigaband forum, Bouygues Telecom, Beltelecom, and BT shared their experience in ultra-broadband network construction and discussed their network construction strategies for the gigabit access era.
To help operators evolve their gigabit access networks to the cloud, Huawei demonstrated its cloud-based CloudFAN solution and shared cloud-based home and enterprise service innovations with industry-leading operators, as well as its symmetric 100G PON prototypes which support symmetric 4-channel 25G PON access.
Jeff Wang, President of Huawei Access Network Product Line, said:
"As an industry-leading access network provider, Huawei continues to accelerate product and solution innovations to help operators deliver fast and reliable connectivity. For example, CloudFAN effectively improves the utilization efficiency of access networks to allow operators to deliver services at gigabit speeds throughout homes and enterprises. Building high-quality home networks is also critical to enable operators to improve the user experience, increase the number of connections, and provide value-added services. Huawei's home network solutions help operators achieve this by realizing full Wi-Fi coverage throughout homes while delivering visible, manageable, and controllable network connections. In addition, with 1.1 billion homes in the world still without network access, Huawei will promote FTTx deployment in emerging markets and provide network services for unconnected users through its E2E consulting services, planning and deployment tools, and solutions such as network construction with power companies."
The FTTH Conference provides a platform for providers and operators to discuss the challenges and solutions of Gigaband construction. Moving forward, Huawei will continue to discuss ultra-broadband (UBB) network construction and operation modes with global operators and industry analysts and build UBB networks which support high bandwidth, wide coverage, and multiple connections.
