Huawei Agile Modular Switch Stays Ahead of Competition in SDN by Receiving OpenFlow v1.3 Certification

Via Huawei Corporate News

Nov 23, 2015

[Beijing, China, November 23, 2015] Huawei today announced that its S12700 agile switch has become the world’s first modular switch to receive OpenFlow v1.3 certification.

Evaluated by the authorized testing labs of Beijing Internet Institute (BII) Group-Global SDN Certified Testing Center (SDNCTC), Huawei’s S6720-EI and S5720-EI fixed switches also passed the OpenFlow v1.3 conformance test.

Huawei S Series Switches have received the highest number of OpenFlow v1.3 certificates, further assuring customers of Huawei’s long term commitment to delivering high performance, deployment-ready software-defined networking (SDN) solutions.

Speaking about the test, Mr. Zhang Pan, Vice Chair of ONF’s Testing & Interoperability Working Group and Senior Engineer at BII Group-Global SDN Certified Testing Center, noted, “Acquiring OpenFlow conformance certification is very important to commercial network products as it means they fully support the OpenFlow protocols. The outstanding performance of Huawei’s three switch models in the test demonstrated Huawei’s rich experience and expertise in SDN technology. With its S Series Switches, Huawei has laid a solid foundation for advancing SDN innovation within the global SDN industry.”

Mr. Wang Shihong, General Manager of Switch Domain, Switch & Enterprise Communications Product Line, Huawei, said, “Customers today are looking for high quality SDN solutions built on the OpenFlow specification for their next-generation networking environments. By receiving OpenFlow v1.3 certification for our modular and fixed switches, we are further demonstrating our commitment to the OpenFlow specification while also enhancing customers’ confidence in the quality and performance of our SDN solutions now and into the future.”

An OpenFlow Conformance certificate is the highest level of assurance available in the market today to validate product conformance with a particular version of the OpenFlow specification. Huawei Agile Switch S12708 has passed 356 test items in the OpenFlow v1.3 conformance test, including functionality and performance.

All Conformance testing is performed by independent, accredited testing labs around the world, providing both impartial validation and Open Networking Foundation (ONF) endorsement. BII Group-SDNCTC is a member of ONF and the first non-U.S.-based global SDNCTC authorized by ONF.
