GENBAND Integrates Virtualized Session Border Controller with Wind River Titanium Server to Offer Service Providers Advanced Real Time Communications Capabilities

Fully integrated solution delivers carrier grade reliability in Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) environments

Frisco, Texas – August 13, 2015 - GENBAND™ , a leading provider of real time communications software solutions and 2015 CNBC Disruptor 50 , today announced its virtualized Session Border Controller application has been integrated with Wind River’s Titanium Server NFV infrastructure platform. The newly combined solution will be on display at the upcoming Intel Developer Forum ( IDF15 ) in San Francisco, August 18 -20. Integrating GENBAND’s elastically scalable virtual SBC on Titanium Server software enables communications service providers (CSPs) to offer secure and carrier grade real time communications services such as SIP Trunking, Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and IP interconnects in an NFV cloud environment.

“As the industry transition to NFV continues to gain momentum, service providers are increasingly demanding flexible, best-of-breed carrier grade solutions that provide ‘always-on’ reliability,” said Charlie Ashton, Senior Director of Business Development for Networking Solutions, Wind River. “We are continuing to collaborate with market-leading companies like GENBAND to bring interoperable, standards-based NFV solutions to market that will help service providers introduce services faster and dramatically improve network performance and efficiency.”

“Our virtualized Session Border Controller supports service providers in many ways including providing secure and seamless interworking of real time communications services across their network borders,” said John McCready, Executive Vice President of Products and Corporate Development, GENBAND. “We are proud to continue our close collaboration with Wind River to offer service providers NFV solutions that incorporate true elasticity, orchestration and programmability – allowing CSPs to immediately reap the rewards of virtualization of their networks.”

Wind River Titanium Server is a carrier-grade NFV infrastructure software solution that is designed to meet the stringent, carrier grade requirements of the communications industry. Through its Titanium Cloud program, Wind River provides an ecosystem that ensures the availability of optimized, interoperable solutions that accelerate time-to-market for service providers and TEMs deploying NFV infrastructure.

GENBAND’s distributed and virtualized SBC enables the independent scaling of control/signaling and media planes and supports hybrid NFV deployments combining NFV cloud environments with network-based capabilities. Additionally, the GENBAND SBC allows for easy migration of network-based deployments to the NFV cloud. GENBAND is a member of the Wind River Titanium Cloud ecosystem, a program dedicated to accelerating the deployment of solutions for NFV.

Key Takeaways:

  • GENBAND and Wind River are demonstrating the power of NFV for CSPs using elastically scalable SBC and real time communications (RTC) applications on Wind River’s Titanium Server NFV infrastructure platform.
  • GENBAND’s virtualized and distributed SBC capabilities simplify the roll-out of NFV by offering differentiated support for cloud deployments such as independent scaling of signaling and media, elastic scalability, unique commercial models, and hybrid cloud and network configurations.
  • GENBAND’s NFV portfolio spans its comprehensive RTC solutions set comprised of multiple, high-performance Virtual Network Functions or NFV applications, including Session Border Controllers, Intelligent Messaging, WebRTC Gateway, Wireless Access Gateway, Session Control and Applications Server solutions, and an intelligent cloud manager that provides seamless interworking into broader NFV infrastructures.

The integrated solution will be on display at GENBAND booth #167 and Wind River booth #168 at IDF15.
