Fujitsu Launches GLOVIA OM V10, a Cloud-Based Mission-Critical Business Application to Cut Inventory and Lead-Time

Enhances simulations of projected inventory to achieve optimal inventory levels

Tokyo, October 14, 2015

Fujitsu today announced the release of Version 10 of FUJITSU Enterprise Application GLOVIA OM, a cloud based mission-critical business application, which offers management of sales, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, and field service. Sales to customers including manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers start today.

GLOVIA OM V10 is the first application in Japan to include Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)(1) functionality 100% native on the Salesforce App Cloud(2) , a cloud platform provided by Salesforce.com. This enables analysis of the current inventory situation and future needs, as well as the management of optimal inventory levels and scheduling for sales and purchasing orders. In addition, by providing screens optimized for mobile devices, this version has improved usability and operability, increasing the efficiency of inventory checks when performing field service at maintenance sites.

As a result, the new version enables customers to perform materials management that maintains optimal inventory levels based on future supply and demand, thereby reducing inventory, shortening lead-times, and making work more efficient.

Background

In recent years, the business environment has changed in radical ways, with the shortening of product lifecycles and the diversification of customer needs, and there has been an increasing need for solutions that improve work efficiency and effectiveness. In particular, there is a critical need to maintain optimal inventory levels, with complete visibility of future supply and demand, in response to continually changing requirements.

Now, in response to these needs, Fujitsu is offering GLOVIA OM V10 with added MRP functionality. It provides flexible and efficient materials management for customers in the manufacturing, distribution, and wholesaling industries.

Features of GLOVIA OM V10

1. Enhanced features for managing and ensuring optimal inventory levels

To maintain optimal inventory levels, materials management, which involves purchase orders and manufacturing orders, necessitates the ability to determine what is needed, when it is needed, and where it is needed, while also predicting future trends. With the newly released GLOVIA OM V10, customers can determine, based on information such as bills of materials, current inventory status, shipment delivery dates, and lead-times, when products will be needed, to easily manage and secure the appropriate inventory at the time needed. Moreover, it enables reductions in inventory and lead-time by making it possible to perform all required planning, from component procurement to product shipments, in a single process.

2. Support for high-level predictions to prevent excess inventory and shortages

This application makes it possible to view, in real time and in calendar format, projected inventory levels generated from MRP calculations, based on both current and future supply and demand. This makes it easy to predict shortages or excess inventory caused by schedule delays, making it possible to accurately change deliveries and quantities in a timely manner.

3. Improvements in usability through enhanced mobile functionality

GLOVIA OM V10 provides enhanced usability and operability through pages optimized for mobile devices. This makes it possible for a service engineer to use their mobile devices to report repair results or check the inventory of maintenance parts while in the field at the maintenance site, improving both accuracy and productivity.
