Fujitsu Limited and the Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (RIPT) have been awarded a consulting contract for the design, construction, and operation of two datacenters to be built in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by VNPT Net Corporation(1) , which drives the network infrastructure industry as a subsidiary of country's largest communications provider, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT Group).
By building secure and highly reliable Tier III(2) datacenters and providing an array of cloud services to companies in and outside of Vietnam, VNPT Group intends to contribute to the advancement of ICT in Vietnam.
Each datacenter will have a 2,000 rack-capacity, and services are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2020 (January-June).
Background
Vietnam, a country with a population exceeding 90 million people, has in recent years seen the rapid spread of internet and mobile communications usage, and the number of foreign companies operating in the country is also increasing. In light of these circumstances, the government of Vietnam would like to further strengthen its ICT infrastructure by 2020 with the goal of providing cutting-edge ICT services in and outside of the country.
To meet this goal, VNPT Group, Vietnam's largest communications provider, has decided to build datacenters in the two locations of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. These datacenters, upon having acquired Tier III certification, will be guaranteed robust and secure. For the construction of these datacenters, VNPT Net awarded a consulting contract to Fujitsu, a builder and operator of numerous datacenters around the world, and RIPT, a company with a solid track record in consulting in Vietnam's ICT field, for their joint proposal which received very high all-around evaluation.
(As a Trusted Partner of Fujitsu, Schneider Electric(3) , which has earned reputation with a strong expertise in Data Center Design and Life Cycle Management, participates in the project)
