Timo Perala, Head of Software & Internet Standardisation, Nokia Networks Bell Labs Standardisation

Service providers build and manage highly complex 24/7/365 networks. This makes their approach to the deployment of new technologies understandably cautious and thus it is no surprise to Timo Perala that service providers are taking their time fully to evaluate and introduce commercial NFV services. As a result, he envisages that there will be no fully virtualised commercial networks any time in the immediate future. Instead a hybrid environment will emerge within which a steady evolution towards full-scale NFV will occur.
