The presentation explores how IOWN’s All-Photonics Network (APN) can connect geographically distributed data centres with ultra-low latency and high-bandwidth optical connectivity, enabling AI training, inference and high-speed data transfer across multiple sites with performance close to single-site deployments. The session also highlights proof-of-concept work involving distributed NVIDIA GPU clusters, long-distance parallel inference and 800Gbps RDMA data transfer, alongside the broader challenge of scaling AI infrastructure sustainably as GPU demand, power consumption and data centre constraints continue to grow.

The presentation examines emerging concepts including in-network computing, sensor-less robotics, digital twins, self-awareness networks and AI-driven spectrum sharing, alongside the role of operator-owned data in improving network efficiency and customer experience. It also highlights ongoing research into autonomous operations, ultra-low latency communications and intelligent RAN control as operators prepare for the demands of the AI and 6G era.

The presentation explores how agentic AI, GitOps and specialised AI agents can automate complex 5G Core design, configuration and deployment processes, reducing lead times, lowering operational effort and improving deployment quality. It also examines DOCOMO’s evolving vision for autonomous networks, including observability agents, self-healing capabilities and fully automated provisioning architectures designed to support scalable AI-native telecom operations.
